Our local zoo has created some really amazing moments for our kids to get up close with animals.
Evy and the jelly fish.
Ethan and the Grizzly bear. (and yes, Evy just pointed at it, not quite sure)
And Ethan and the leopard. This was pretty amazing. The leopard is rarely so close and so calm. So to have a moment to look very close at all the details was incredible. Even cooler, E and I brought some animal cards we had at our house and he matched the card to the animal. Yes, he had a leopard.
My kids (well, and us too) eat almost every 2 hours, so snack time is a must.
And then. We decided as a special treat, to visit the dinosaur exhibit. Ethan had a dinosaur week at preschool and was really excited to see everything. He was disappointed they weren’t real, and he didn’t believe me when I said they were all gone forever and ever. But he did seem OK to see the “pretend with batteries” dinosaurs.
But you guys. Evy HATED it. I noticed she was very very quiet. And I looked down, and she continuously just arched her head away from them, completely motionless, not saying a word. I tried to talk to her, show her…..didn’t work. I tried to just quick walk by them, but she just didn’t engage. at. all. Poor thing. I felt so terrible for her.
I saw the TRex coming up so I picked her up for that one. And she just…..well, take a look….
So we finished in a bit of a hurry and then moved onto more animals. It was fun to say we did it, and Ethan loved saying the looooong names of the dinosaurs, but poor Evy will probably stay away from that part of the zoo the rest of the summer!
