As we walked to our car from the farmers market, the sunset was perfect. It came right over the slope of grass and wildflowers, completely warm and delicious. Ethan walked by us, swinging his half-squished bag of tomatoes, fingers still sticky from the maple-syrup suckers and roasted almonds. Evy squeals as she watches him walk, a bit tired as bedtime approaches, but doing well.
Can we grab some quick photos? I asked matt. I point to the sloped hill with the sunlight. Please? Let me just check what it’d be like. Ethan, buddy, can you come sit by daddy and evy?
(I didn’t even look at what matt did with the photos….I knew they’d be good. but my soul was screaming to be on the other side of the camera and grab some of matt and the kids too)
Sometimes it’s hard to capture how E and E act together. Right now, at this stage, it is complete adoration. There are (many) moments that that is not the case. But 80/20 they always want to be by each other, just smiling and watching each other. I did not stage them. I asked him to sit by her, and he was gentle, she was content. Bliss.
This was the best evening we’ve had. In a long time. And it felt so good for our family soul. These are my people. I LOVE my people. Blessed.
