Once the kiddo was asleep, us adults stayed up WAY past our bedtime to just hang out! We started an awesome completely-made-up-by-Kyle game of Skippo. There were definite tears of laughter as we attempted to play with our ever-evolving-rules of the game.
Of course, we had to pull out the fireworks as well.
We then called it a night and started getting ready for bed. But one by one, people started going outside again….and then we sat on the dock stairs and watched the moon. No bugs, no wind. It was like the children’s book “Goodnight Moon”. Completely still except for some night creatures, the breeze, and our whispered conversations.
Finally, way past midnight, we all said goodnight. Ahhhhh. Rest.
